CFA Summer Fair What a fantastic turnout we had last week for this annual community event. We received lots of positive feedback about the organisation and I would like to take the opportunity to thank all parents and staff who helped organize and run the fair. We have raised approximately £3,000 and will be able to go ahead and add to our playground gym equipment

1st July 2014 One Day Only Trial Day Free School Meal for Reception, Year 1 & Year 2 In order to prepare for the challenge from September, we are inviting all children in the above mentioned year groups to have a free school meal, so that we can establish how long this will take on a daily basis in order to make the necessary arrangements ahead of next term.

Fasting As Ramadan begins later this week, I would remind relevant families that only Year 5 and Year 6 children can fast during their time at school. However, I would ask that parents take note of the day that your child has PE, so that he/she is not fasting that day, as all curriculum activities will continue as normal.
Request for Leave during Term Time As we only have four weeks until the end of summer term, many parents have already asked for leave early for their children before term ends. I would remind parents, the Local Authority has issued numerous penalty notices to parents who have had unauthorised leave since September. Request for leave will only be granted in exceptional and emergency circumstances and travel details will be requested. If request for leave is not granted, the attendance will be registered as an unauthorised absence and a notice incurs a fine of £120 which is reduced to £60 if it is paid within 21 days. This fine is per child per parent. Even if you are visiting an elderly relative, your leave will only be authorized for exceptional circumstances for only 3 days.

Dinner Arrear I would remind all parents to keep up to date with your child’s school dinner payments. All arrears need to be cleared by 27th June. From Monday 30th June until the end of term, all meals need to be paid for in advance, clearly labelled and sealed with your child’s name and class.
Any child whose account remains in debt will not be provided a school dinner and parents will be asked to send a packed lunch.

Colour Assemblies There will be no colour assemblies this week.

Tour De France 7th July 2014 Please be aware that some roads in Redbridge will be closed for the Bike Race. Please allow extra time for travel. School will be open as usual.

Teacher’s Strike Possible school closure due to a number of Unions striking including Unison, GMB & Teaching Unions. Updates will be provided in the newsletter next week and the week after.
