Coloured Assemblies We would love to see you at these assemblies.
The times for the different coloured groups are as follows:
Blue and Green classes will be every Thursday at 9.10am
Red and Yellow classes will be every Thursday at 2.45pm

Attendance Figures for Last Week
RB 97.3% RG 84.7%
RR 79.3% RY 93.3%
Yr 1B 93.7% Yr 1G 88.6%
Yr 1R 93% Yr 1Y 90.3%
Yr 2B 93.3% Yr 2G 93.4%
Yr 2R 100% Yr 2Y 85.1%
Yr 3B 94.6% Yr 3G 93%
Yr 3R 96.7% Yr 3Y 100%
Yr 4B 97.4% Yr 4G 93.6%
Yr 4R 89.6% Yr 4Y 92.9%
Yr 5G 96% Yr 5R 95.2%
Yr 6B 96% Yr 6Y 95.3%

Attendance The classes with the highest percentage are Year 2 Red and Year 3 Yellow with 100%! Well done to both classes! The overall percentage for the whole school was 93% which is disappointing. PLEASE work with us to improve this to at least 95%.

Attendance As you can see, we have some very low attendance in RG, RR, 1G, 1Y and 4R; which is having a negative impact on the progress of the absent pupils in those classes. I would urge parents to rectify this situation immediately.

Smoking, Spitting and Animals in Playground Please note, the school site is a non-smoking environment and I would ask all parents to avoid smoking whilst on site. We have also had complaints about adults spitting and bringing dogs onto the site. Please avoid doing this.

Parking Would the owner of a black Jeep K396 PDY please refrain from blocking the entrance to the Pavilion Car Park as this causes congestion and puts the children’s safety at risk. You know who you are, and so do we!

Main Car Park I continue to be appalled at the despicable behaviour and illegal and dangerous driving of some of our less considerate parents, who should be ashamed of the example they are setting. If you won’t improve this because I request it, please do it for your children, who are embarrassed. We are working with the local police and traffic control to tackle the individuals concerned.

Year 1 and 3 Workshops for Parents In response to requests from parents and in our endeavour to work with you on raising children’s achievements, we have organized workshops for parents in year 1 and 3, where the key focus will be numeracy. We will also be selling some resources at these events. Please check the dates and times overleaf.

Leaving Children in the Playground Unattended I would remind all parents to ensure that your child reaches their class safely by accompanying them to the playground doorways. Some children, as young as Year 1 are being ‘left’ in the playground unsupervised, whilst the parents drive off.

Year 1 and 4 performance dates The Year 1 performance to parents is on Wednesday 28th March at 2pm.
The Year 4 performance to parents is on Wednesday 21st March pm.

Open School As usual, I would like to invite all parents and carers to walk through the school and look at your child’s class books on Monday 23rd January (wrong date sent out previously) between 3.30 – 4.15pm. Please note that this is an opportunity for the children to show their books to parents, rather than a meeting with the class teacher.

Parent Coffee Morning Once again, I would like to invite you in as parents to share your ideas about the school and ways in which we can improve our provision further. The coffee morning will be on Monday 23rd January at 9.00am in the small hall.

Dinner Arrears Some parents still owe dinner money despite many phone calls and letters. PLEASE pay your debts immediately. If you are in arrears you will be asked to provide your child with a packed lunch until your debt has been cleared, as ISS Catering will not provide meals. Therefore, your child may end up not being properly fed.

Eligibility for free school meals If you are eligible, please apply, as we lose funding when take up is low. If you require help completing the form, please see Beverley Boothe, Parent Support Adviser.

Parent’s Evening This will take place on February 29th. Please look out for the letter that will come out shortly.

Year 6 Daytime meetings re SATs 7th and 8th February. In order to enable year 6 teachers and parents to meet with individual children, we have arranged day-time appointments for February 7th for 6B and February 8th for 6Y as per letter sent out today. Please respond as soon as possible so that we can allocate times.

Year 1 and 4 performance dates The Year 1 performance to parents is on Wednesday 28th March at 2pm.
The Year 4 performance to parents is on Wednesday 21st March pm.

Team Superschools The rewards from the Team Superschools event with Larry Achike are in the process of being sent to us and will be distributed to the relevant children as soon as we receive them.

Asthma Inhalers and Medication Would you please note that all parents are responsible to check the expiry dates of their children’s asthma inhalers and medication kept in school.

PARENTS BEWARE! IMPORTANT—SAFE USE OF COMPUTERS!We are becoming increasingly concerned about the safe use of computers at home following a number of incidents with our children that have been reported. Please be aware that NO children at Cranbrook Primary should be using Facebook or any other social networking sites. Please ensure you know what your children are doing on the computer at home. Social networking can open them to a range of dangers and expose them to material that primary age children should not experience.

We continue to add more clubs to those that we offer but unfortunately lack of demand has meant we have cancelled two of our clubs this term. Other clubs are at risk if we are unable to have a high enough attendance to cover the cost of the coaches.

Please note that jewellery should not be worn for PE, if stud earrings cannot be removed, they will need to be taped over.
