A Gold Award was given to Andrei Lupsa.
Headteacher’s Award was given to Joanna Sparkes for her Photosynthesis diagram and Zara Ross Sattar for receiving a karate medal for Courage and Good Attendance. Isa Khan and Vaibhav Shandilya for solving word problems. Tayyab Ali, Tharun Vivenkanandarajah and Mohammed Khuzeyfa each received an award for great maths work. Asim Khan was also awarded for being brave in first aid.
Well done, everybody!
CFA Diversity Event As always we had a great turn out. Despite the cold weather we managed to raise £1600!
I would like to take this opportunity to say a big ‘thank you’ to all staff and parents who helped to organise and run this event. A ‘well done’ also to all the children who performed in the Talent show.

Attendance Well done to class Year 1 Yellow and to class Year 3 Red for achieving 99.3%.
The overall percentage for last week for the whole school was 95.7%.
 
 
Year 1 Performance will be held on Thursday 26th March at 2.00pm. We look forward to welcoming Year 1 parents on Thursday.    
 
 


Numeracy Course for Parents Parents/carers are invited to take part in a 5 week Numeracy course at Cranbrook Primary School. The course will start on Friday 24th April 2015 and will run for 5 weeks until Friday 22nd May from 9am – 11am. Parents will have the opportunity to understand how and what their children are learning in Maths lessons at school, discover new strategies to build confidence and support their child’s learning, as well as improving their own numeracy skills. A certificate will be awarded to all participants at the end of the course. If you would like to enrol then please telephone    020 8518 2562.
 
Redbridge Cycling Centre There will be coaching sessions for kids as well as BMX sessions, running during the Easter holidays.

Colour Assemblies As always, these will be held on Thursday 26th March at 9.15am, as follows:

Easter Break 3rd– 20th April 2015 Please note that all holidays during term time will be unauthorised and parents who take their children out will be subject to a fine of £120 per child per parent.
 
Year 6 SATs Week 11th– 15th May 2015 Please make sure if your child is in Year 6, that he/she attends regularly, as the summer term is such a crucial one before the children move on to Secondary School.
 
Solar Eclipse Breakfast A big thank you to all staff who came in early last Friday to support this event. Unfortunately, the heavy cloud prevented     everyone from having a good view of the eclipse.
 
School Dinners Please make sure your child’s dinner account is settled before the end of term and any dinners your child has until then, are paid for in advance.

CFA Diversity Event Thursday 19th March 3.15– 4.45pm. Weather permitting, this event will offer many different stalls and a talent show. Stalls will include food items, some of which will be donated by  yourselves as per the recipes sent out by each year group. Please label your donation stating the country, name of the dish and contents e.g. Halal, vegetarian. All dishes should contain no nuts.
If you would like your container returned, please label it underneath with your child’s name and class.

Please also remember this will be a non - uniform day, where children are invited to donate £1 and come dressed in the colours of the national flag of the European country that their year group has been allocated – see below:
Nursery - Albania / Kosovo (red and black or blue and white) 
Reception - Lithuania (yellow, green and red)
Year 1 - Poland (red and white)            
Year 2 - Bulgaria (white, green and red)               
Year 3 - Germany (yellow, black and red)

We hope to raise a significant amount of money to further enhance the outdoor areas for the children’s use.
Please come along and support us. If it rains on Thursday, the event will have to be cancelled. However, we will still sell the food on Thursday and if necessary, on Friday.
 
Solar Eclipse Breakfast To celebrate the solar eclipse  which will be happening on Friday 20th March at 8am, Years 1,2 and 5 have been invited for breakfast and to view this spectacular event. This will be a truly momentous experience, which we are very keen for our children to enjoy. The playground gate will open at 7.50am that day just for the year groups mentioned above and close, at the usual time for the remainder of the year groups as normal.

Medical Appointments Please may I remind parents to make medical appointments after school, as many children are leaving for appointments and not  returning back to school. These appointments will effect their learning and will be marked as unauthorised if no medical evidence is     provided.

Solar Eclipse Breakfast To celebrate the solar eclipse  which will be happening on Friday 20th March at 8am,  Years 1,2 and 5 have been invited for breakfast and to view this spectacular event.
If your child is interested, please send in the signed permission slip by Monday 16th March at the latest.
This will be a truly momentous experience, which we are very keen for our children to enjoy.
 
 
School Uniform I have noticed that some children are starting to come to school dressed inappropriately or not in uniform.
Please note, it is the school policy for all children to wear uniform every day to create a sense of community and belonging. Plain grey cardigans or jumpers are also acceptable if your child does not have a jade jumper with the school logo.
Please ensure your child wears uniform each day.
 
 
Parent View As always we value your feedback. Many of you registered on iPads last week during Parents Evening. It would be much appreciated if you could take a few minutes to go on the OFSTED website or the link on the school website and provide confidential feedback on the school’s strengths and weaknesses. We are always striving to make improvements.
 
 
Redbridge Open School Sessions I am really pleased to announce that once again, we will be hosting a number of visits to the school by teachers from other local schools to look at some of our strengths such as the quality of our learning environment, the teaching of reading and talk for writing etc.
We are also currently providing school to school support to another Redbridge School in relation to the quality of teaching.
 
 
CFA Diversity Event, will be held on Thursday 19th March 2015 from 3.15 to 4.45PM. We look forward to seeing you at the next weeks fundraising event, where a selection of food and private stalls will be available. I do hope that you are able to support this event, celebrating the diversity within the school community. Our aim this year is to raise £15,000 for playground     areas.
Pizza, samosas and other goodies will be on sale.
