Year 6 Red Cross Appeal for Nepal
In conjunction with their ‘Speech and Writing’ literacy work, Year 6 children will be making a whole school appeal for donations towards the crises in Nepal. I am sure you have been touched by the images seen on the news and the reports. A number of our children have been very moved and have asked if they could do some fund raising for this appeal. The money will be collected from this week. All donations are very welcomed.

Attendance Reminder
Parents please note that all absences taken without authorisation or notification to the school will be unauthorised. We would also like to ask you to call in first thing in the morning if your child is absent. If your child has a dental or doctors appointment in the middle of the day, he/she should still be in school before or after. Parents/carers should send their messages on 07860004994.
Please note this number is only used for reporting absences and not to be used for general messages.
National Walk to School Week
Please encourage your children to walk to school this week as it’s National Walk to School week. A great way to start and end the school day!
Parent Governor Vacancy
We currently have a vacancy for a Parent Governor, which is open to any parent who has a child at the school. The commitment is entirely voluntary and
requires 2 evenings per term for full body meetings at the school, usually 6-8.30pm, as well as 1 Friday per term for committee meetings. In addition, all governors are expected to undertake a monitoring visit to the school during the school day, at least once each term. All activities would be in line with the ‘Code of Conduct for Governors’, a copy of which can be obtained via the school office. If you are interested in standing for this position, please send in a personal statement of 100 words, stating why you would be suitable. If we have only 1 person applying, then that individual automatically fills the
vacancy. If however, there are more nominations, then a secret ballot will be held in line with the set procedure. We currently have a gap of specific skills on the governing body relating to law and quantity surveying.
However, this should not exclude any parent from being nominated. Interested parents should send in their personal statement by Friday 22nd May 2015.
Multi-Sports Mini Games Competition
Today selected children participated in the Multi-Sports Mini Games competition held at Redbridge Sports Centre. Fantastic and great effort from all our children! We will give you further updates on how the day went in our newsletter after half-term.
New Play Equipment
Once again we have been very fortunate in getting funding for some fantastic and exciting new play equipment in the playground. The children are thoroughly enjoying this new area, which is wonderful to see.
Parent Survey
Once again we would value your feedback on the strengths and weakness of the school. Please check the school website for the link to the Parent Questionnaire, which you can download and complete confidentially.
All completed questionnaires can be placed in the box in the school lobby.
