Please remember to call the school if your child is absent as all absences need to be recorded with reasons. Our registers are reviewed by the Education Welfare Officer each week.

Late Children If your child is late, please bring them to the Late Desk by the School Office. It is very important that all late children are signed in as this desk as the class registers are closed and returned by the office at 9:05. This means that if you do not sign in at the Late Desk, your child will not be recorded as being in school. Please note that if your child is persistently late (7 times in any half term) you could be liable for a fine.

Science Week This week, we are celebrating Science Week. Each year group has an exciting theme to follow from materials, our senses, sound, electricity, colour, light or structures and the children are working hard on experiments and activities. The children are looking forward to meeting the owls on Thursday and Friday. This exciting week will culminate in a whole school assembly on Friday. Well done to Caren for arranging the week!

Cranbrook’s Got Talent Week We are looking forward to seeing the talents of our staff and children in assembly on Tuesday 29th June. Well done Junaida for organising this exciting event which will become a termly event in the future.

Year 5 & 6 SRE Meeting This meeting will take place on 25th June at 3:30 in the Year 5 Classroom. You will have the opportunity to view the materials we will use to teach Sex and Relationship Education (SRE).

Year 4 and 5 Parents Meeting This meeting will take place on 1st July at 3:30pm. Please make every effort to attend as key information will be shared.

Parent Governor Vacancy We have a vacancy for a parent governor. All parents are eligible to apply and are requested to write to me outlining why you would be a good parent governor. The deadline is 4pm on 30th June. Please be aware that this role is voluntary and unpaid.

Charity Bikeathon I am very pleased to announce that Cranbrook Primary came second for the number of riders entered from a school. This is a great achievement as it is the first year we have entered! The children had a fun day and raised money for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research.

Parent Support Advisor Please join me in welcoming Beverley Boothe as our Parent Support Advisor. Beverley will offer a range of services to parents and carers, some of which will be through a referral process. Services will include one-to-one support, advice, guidance, advocacy, mediation, signposting and referrals to specialist agencies. She will also facilitate adult training, parenting and family learning courses, drop in sessions, coffee mornings, workshops and seminars all of which will take place in school and will be free of charge. Look out for details of these events in future newsletters. You can contact Beverley via the School Office or your child’s class teacher.

Athletics Event Last Wednesday, 12 of our Year 2 children represented the school at the Athletics Tournament at Woodbridge High School. All children took part in a jumping, throwing and running event. I am delighted to announce that overall Cranbrook won the Bronze medal for coming 3rd in the tournament. Congratulations to all the children that took part!

Early School Closure for the Summer Fete We are all very excited about the Summer Fete on 9th July. As mentioned in last week’s newsletter, we will be closing the school at 2:30pm on 9th July to allow all families to participate in the summer fete which will take place on the school field. Please make every effort to collect your child/children early. We have a bouncy castle, giant assault course inflatables, face painting, games, activities, stalls and a BBQ. Tickets are now on sale and children’s tickets include a free drink and snack – please return the slip and money in an envelope to the school office. The money raised will be used to buy more playground equipment.
