Last Day of Term - Tomorrow  Parents please note that Year 6 will finish at 12pm and the remainder of the school will finish at 2pm. Please ensure that you have made arrangements for the early closure and that you collect your child promptly.
There will be no after school club tomorrow.
 
Start of Term School will re-open for Reception to Year 6 pupils on Thursday 4th September 2014 at the usual time. Nursery will re-open on 15th September 2014. Please remember Reception children will attend for mornings only until 15th September.
 
Arrangements For The First Two Days of Term (Years 1-6) Please bring your children into the playground where the new teacher will collect them. From Monday 8th September, children will make their own way up to their class as usual. The teachers will bring them down at the end of each day. Senior staff will be available to guide you if you are unsure of where to go.
 
Fines For Parents Please note if your child is absent in the last week of term and at the beginning of September; you will be fined £60 rising to £120 (if you fail to pay within 28 days) per child, per parent.
 
Lunch Arrears PLEASE PAY UP! You know who you are!
 
Lost Property Please check for any lost items. We will send any remaining items to charity shops.

Newsletter No.39 16th July 2014

As we come towards the end of the school year, I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the hard work of our children and staff, and to thank you all for your continued support.
We have had many highlights and achievements this year:
·         Improved results throughout the school—the best ever! EYFS, KS1, KS2 and Year 1 phonics.
·         Stability of staff and the Governing Body
·         Fantastic CFA events, such as the Movie Night, Diversity Event and the Summer Fair, raising £12,000
·         Well attended and fun sports day
·         All the school performances where children demonstrated great team work, confidence and independence
·         The best attendance figures 95.3 %. Let’s keep this up!
·         The continued and valued support of our parents and community
·         The superb behaviour of our children
·         The positive reports of the recent inspection and Local Authority monitoring
·         Feedback from pupils, parents and staff on the many strengths of the school
 
We have set ourselves many challenges for next year and want to achieve even higher results for our pupils. I will share our key priorities at the beginning of the next academic year.

Attendance Well done to classes Reception Green and 2 Green for both achieving 99.2%. The overall percentage for the whole school was 94.6%.

Lunch Arrears We have over £400 owing to the school by parents who have not cleared their debt. PLEASE PAY UP! You know who you are!
 
Parking Please be more considerate! Renault KD5 0KW - Don’t park on the grassed banks in the car park!
 
Year 6 Packed Lunches Year 6 children are encouraged to bring packed lunches for the remainder of the term, so that they can spend their lunchtimes on the school field as a special privilege. Children who receive free school meals will be provided one.
Next Tuesday afternoon, Year 6 pupils will also have a fun day on the school field.
 
Loom Bands We have had many children bringing these into school and causing problems and injuries with them. I have therefore, had to take the decision to ban them from school. If your child brings loom bands into school, the teacher will confiscate them.
 
Colour Assemblies There will no colour assemblies tomorrow as Year 2 will be holding their end of year performance for their parents.
 
School Travel Plan I am delighted to announce that Cranbrook has become the first Redbridge Primary School to obtain gold accreditation for our work on the travel plan. We have reduced car travel and increased walking, cycling and park and stride.
Last week, I attended a Celebration and Awards event at The Town Hall. Amanda Irons, our travel plan champion, together with Qasim, Vikram, Kiran and Faizah in Year 6 gave a presentation. Cranbrook were highly commended for our work on cycling and won Primary School of the Year for our work on the Travel Plan. Well done everyone for helping us achieve these awards.
 
Virtual Bike Race Thank you to everyone who took part in the Virtual Bike Race by cycling to school. 13% of our children cycled to school this week and we won the race. Well done Cranbrook! Our prize is a Flatland BMX display at the school. 
 
School Council School council members have been elected and will be taking up their new posts in September alongside the existing members. The new members are as follows:

Staffing Update I am pleased to welcome Chloe back from maternity leave. Chloe has returned on a part time basis and will cover classes and provide specialist Dance teaching across the school.
 
Sad Farewells We will be sorry to see Jo Biggs and Kate Hill leave the school to take up new avenues in their career. We will also be waving ‘au revoir’ to Harman, who will be taking up a teaching position in Mexico; and to Ian and John, who are joining an international school in Hong Kong. Finally, we will also be losing Paven, one of our Assistant Headteachers, who will be taking on a full-time role as Deputy Headteacher at John Bramston Primary School in Redbridge from September 2014.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank these staff for their hard work and their valuable contribution to Cranbrook. They will all be missed! 
To replace them we welcome the following new teachers: Jacob, Michael R, Sofia, Dia, Rehana and Sukhraj. Please see overleaf the arrangements for class teachers for September 2014.

Strike– School Closure on Thursday 10th July 2014 The school will be closed tomorrow, due to the high number of staff on strike over pay for public sector workers.

Well done to Layla Khan-Ringshaw (5R), Sofiya Khan-Ringshaw (4R) and Asha Kaur Birdi (5B) for performing for the Threatretrain group at the Kenneth Moore Theatre. The girls all showed an excellent commitment and have worked hard, so well done!
