Strike Day– School Closure
The school will be closed on Thursday 10th July due to
the high number of staff on strike over pay for public sector workers. I hope
that this notice will enable you to make the necessary child care
arrangements.
Year 6 Performance
Year 6 parents are invited to the Year 6 performance
on Wednesday 9th July at 2pm in the main hall (please note the slight
time change).
Reception Sports Day on 9th July 9.30am
Children need to come dressed in their PE kit wearing
the top/t-shirt of their house colour. They will be able to remain in their kit
for the rest of the day.
All children need to wear suitable sports clothing;
shorts, T-shirt, plimsolls/trainers. Please apply sun cream to your child if
the weather is warm. However if the weather is cooler please supply your child
with jogging bottoms and a jumper.
All children will need to bring a water bottle that
is clearly labelled with their name by 8th July, which should be handed to
their class teacher. Parents are encouraged to come along to the school field and
support their child in the various events. There will also be a
parents race so come prepared!
Government
Statutory Benefit to Free School Meals
In
England a Free School Meal (FSM) is a statutory benefit available to school
aged children from low income families who receive other qualifying
benefits and who have been through the relevant registration process. This
eligibility will not only give your child a free meal, it will also give you
access to other benefits.
If you
are unsure if you are entitled to this benefit, please contact the Awards
and Support Team, Lynton House, Redbridge on 020 8708 3123 and this entitlement
will be recorded on our school database once parents bring in their
confirmation to the school. You can register for free school meals on
www.redbridge.gov.uk/freeschoolmeals.
Universal
Free School Meals From September 2014, all infant school pupils (pupils in
Reception, Years 1 and 2) in state funded schools in England will be eligible
for a free school meal from September 2014. This does not entitle you/your
child to other benefits. You would need to apply for the Government Statutory
Benefit to Free School Meals as stated above.
Tour De France
7th July 2014
Please be aware that
some roads in Redbridge will be closed for the Bike Race. Please allow extra
time for travel. School will be open as usual.
Colour Assemblies
Colour assemblies will be running as usual this week.
Please remember, due to the school closure on Thursday 10th July, there will be
no assemblies.
Fasting
I would remind
relevant families that only Year 5 and Year 6 children can fast during their
time at school. However, I would ask that parents take note of the day that
your child has PE, so that he/she is not fasting that day, as all curriculum
activities will continue as normal.
