Well done to all of you!
Racist Incident Once again, I was very disappointed to hear that
although our pupils demonstrate respect towards each other’s cultures and religions, this is not being reinforced in some homes. I was very
saddened to hear that a child was told by his best friend that he cannot go to
his home to play because his dad only allows Muslims there. I would urge all adults to show the same
respect to all religions and cultures as our children do.
SILC Event Yesterday evening, a group of our children represented the school at the
annual Arts Festival between our network of schools, including Highlands, Fullwood, Gearies and St. Augustine’s
Primary. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mark, Chloe,
Pauline, Rachel Preeti and Brian for
organising and supporting the event. Well done to all the children who
contributed! What fantastic ambassadors for Cranbrook!
Summer
Fayre ‘Wild West Bonanza’ 20th June Further tickets for the Wild West Bonanza will be available
to purchase on Thursday. Thank you to parents and children who kindly donated
items for the Summer Fayre on 14th June. What a great response! Children are invited to come
into school in non-uniform in a Wild West theme. Please note, classes will be dismissed from the front of the school
as the playground will be used for the Fayre. There will be signs up by the
main gate to tell you about this.
Cancellation
of Clubs on 20th June Due
to the Summer Fayre event, all
after school activities are cancelled on 20th June 2013. Please note that the after school childcare
club that runs until 5.30pm will be open as usual and will be located in the
nursery.
Glasbury We had a very poor response to the meeting for Year 6
parents whose children are going on the week long residential trip to Glasbury
in July. For those who did not attend, please ensure that all forms are
completed and returned on time.
Year 5 Transition Meeting I do hope Year 5 parents found this morning’s meeting
informative and useful. Thank you for your attendance.
Packed Lunches If your child takes a packed lunch to school, please
can you ensure that they bring this with them when they come into school in the
morning. It is disruptive for the busy administration office who have
to then take late packed lunches to children in their class.
Jump Rope For Heart In the week beginning 24th June, your child will be
participating in a sponsored
skip. Please ensure that your child has returned their sponsor form and the
money raised during this week. 80% of all donations will go towards the British
Heart Foundation and 20% will go to the school for PE resources. So, keep practicing your skipping at home and get
ready for Jump Rope for Heart!
Colour Assemblies Due to the Summer Fayre, colour assemblies will not be
taking place on 20th June. Assemblies will run as usual next week.
Sensory
Garden Please be
aware that this area is out of bounds before and after school.

is warmer. However, if the weather is cooler, please supply your child with
black jogging bottoms and a jumper. All children will also need a water bottle
available to them throughout the event. Parents are encouraged to come along
and support their child in the various events. Parents will be required to sign
in at the field entrance.
“What
Does Your School Mean To You” Competition Calling all students! What does
your school mean to you? Imagination and creativity? A safe place where friends
are made and memories are created? Your school councillors are working on something very special
and want you to tell them what Cranbrook Primary School means to you. You may choose to write your responses in a
paragraph (no more than 100 words please) or draw a picture with a caption. You
may choose to work on a response alone or with friends. It’s up to you! Just
make sure you give your entry to your teacher by 4th July 2013.
Science Day Last week as part of Science Day, Year 3 learnt
all about bones! They were lucky enough to receive a visit from Ester Donaghey,
a local Osteopath from Body Balance
Practice in South Woodford. The children all had a great day and learnt
lots!
Year 5 received a visit from Dr Imran Rafiq as part of their Science
Day. Dr Rafiq bought in a model skeleton, stethoscopes and various other medical items for the children to look at and use. The children
had a fantastic time learning all about muscles! Thank you Dr Rashid and Ester
Donaghey for spending the day with the children.
