4th May 2011 Newsletter No 54

I do hope that you all enjoyed the long, sunny weekend and the Royal Celebrations! However, it is great to be back to a regular routine. Once again, we have a busy half term with many key dates for your attention.

Open School today Please remember Open School will be happening after school today, all parents and carers are invited to walk through the school and look at your child’s class books between 3.30 and 4.15pm. Please note that this is an opportunity for the children to show their books to their parents, rather than a meeting with the class teacher.

Year 6 SATs 9th – 13th May 2011 It is very important that all Year 6 pupils are in school throughout this week.

PTA May Fayre The PTA May Fayre will be taking place on Thursday 26th May from 3.30 – 5.30pm. Following feedback from parents and staff last year, we have agreed to hold a May Fayre, instead of a Summer Fayre. Please make a note of this date as many exciting stalls are planned for the children’s enjoyment.

Punctuality As the works around Redbridge roundabout will go on another 3 weeks, please ensure you leave home earlier to get to school on time, as we had 117 children late this morning. Remember, this is planned work that has been advertised.

Attendance The class with the highest percentage is Year 2 Red with 98.9%, Well done to Year 2 Red! The overall percentage for the whole school was 88.6%.

Percentages for other classes were as follows:
R Blue 86.7% R Green 84.5% R Red 78.9% R Yellow 87.8%
Yr 1 Blue 82.2% Yr 1 Green 91.7% Yr1 Red 85% Yr 1 Yellow 91.7%

Yr 4 Green 93.9% Yr 4 Red 95%

Yr 6 Red 89.7 %

IF YOUR CHILD’S CLASS PERCENTAGE IS BELOW IS 95%, PLEASE MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO ENSURE HE/SHE ATTENDS REGULARLY. POOR ATTENDANCE = POOR PROGRESS = POOR SELF ESTEEM

Get Set Go Award I am thrilled to announce that the school’s application was successful and we are now official Olympic Champions! Mark Evans, the co-ordinator, will organise a number of activities over the coming year to ensure that the forthcoming Olympic Games remain high profile within the school.

Karate Club Parents should collect their children from Karate Club from the main hall instead of the small hall.
