11th May 2011 Newsletter No 55

PTA May Fayre The PTA May Fayre will be taking place on Thursday 26th May from 3.30 –6.00pm. Please put this date in your diary, as we would love to see you all there. Children will be dismissed from the front of the school 5 minutes early on that day, so that the playground is all set up for the start time of 3.30pm for our afternoon of excitement! Helpers are still needed. Please look out for the PTA Committee in the playground for more information and tickets.

Chickens The whole school observed a very exciting experience in March when our eggs hatched. The chicks are now grown and the hen coop has been positioned in the school garden. This is an exciting development for us all, as we work with the children to engage them in rearing the chickens, and possibly other tame animals such as rabbits in the future. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Stephen for building the fantastic coop and assembling the hen house.

Year 6 SATs The children are working extremely hard on their SATs and look forward to the end of the week. Year 2 Sats will be undertaken throughout this month in small groups.

Car Parking/Speeding I continue to be seriously concerned about the thoughtlessness of some parents, who persistently park illegally and dangerously and are speeding in the car park where young children are walking. PLEASE SORT IT OUT BEFORE WE HAVE AN ACCIDENT! Could I also emphasise that the Pavilion Car Park is for staff and deliveries only, and is not for parents dropping children off.

Attendance The class with the highest percentage is Year 2 Yellow with 95.8%. Well done to Year 2 Yellow! The overall percentage for the whole school was 90%.

Percentages for other classes were as follows:
R Blue 90.8% R Green 87.1% R Red 75% R Yellow 90.8%
Yr 1 Blue 89.2% Yr 1 Green 89.2% Yr1 Red 89.2% Yr 1 Yellow 86.3%
Yr 2 Blue 95% Yr 2 Green 92.5% Yr 2 Red 93.3% Yr 2 Yellow 95.8%
Yr 3 Blue 87.1% Yr 3 Green 94.8% Yr 3 Red 94.2% Yr 3 Yellow 88.3%
Yr 4 Green 93.3% Yr 4 Red 90%
Yr 5 Blue 86.7% Yr 5 Yellow 88.8%
Yr 6 Red 93.5%

IF YOUR CHILD’S CLASS PERCENTAGE IS BELOW IS 95%, PLEASE MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO ENSURE HE/SHE ATTENDS REGULARLY. POOR ATTENDANCE = POOR PROGRESS = POOR SELF ESTEEM

School Council The School Council are having a Recycling stall at the May Fayre. We would like parents and children to donate bits and pieces they no longer need and would like to sell. You can bring in things like clothes, toys, jewellery, old painting etc. Please hand in to your child’s class teacher by Friday 20th May. Thank you in advance.
