and successful 2014!
Priorities This Term We continue to work on improving the children’s understanding
of mathematical language and their
reading comprehension skills. We would ask that parents support us with this at
home when reading with your child or discussing mathematical word problems with
them. If you would like further information about this, please do not hesitate
to ask the class teacher.
Congratulations to Aadhi Velmurugan and Ryan Phelan (both in nursery) who
were awarded Headteachers awards.
Class Information Sessions As usual, these will begin next week and will take place at
9.10am in the main hall. The session will provide you with information about
this term’s learning theme for your child’s class. Please make every effort to
attend. The dates for year groups are as follows:
13th January - Year 1
14th January - Year 5
15th January - Year 4
16th January - Reception classes
17th January - Year 3
20th January - Year 2
21st January - Year 6 (including SATs
workshop)
Clubs We will be holding a Club Enrolment Day on Thursday 9th
January (between 3.15-3.45pm) in the main hall. If your child has been
allocated a club, this will give you an opportunity to meet the club providers
and pay any monies due. If your child has not been allocated a club, there are
still places available in some clubs. Please come along and check availability
and register.

Attendance Well done to class 3 Yellow for achieving 99%. The
overall percentage for the whole school was 93.2%.
Unauthorised Absence I would remind parents that if your child has 12 sessions
of unauthorised absence recorded
throughout the academic year, the Local Authority will issue you with a penalty
notice. The notice incurs a fine of £120 which is reduced to £60 if it is paid
within 21 days. Penalty notices may be considered in the first instance for
leave of absence taken without permission of the Headteacher which will result
in £120 fine per parent, per child (reducing to £60 per parent, per
child if paid within 21 days).
Colour Assemblies will commence from Thursday 23rd January and will be as
follows:
9.10am-9.35am - Red classes (Hall) Yellow
classes (Dance studio)
2.40-3.05pm - Blue & Rainbow classes
(Hall) Green classes (Dance studio)

Important - Change of Inset
Date Please note that the school will be
closed to pupils for Inset on 24th February, NOT the 14th February.
Apologies for any inconvenience that this change of date may cause.
Uniform Please ensure that your child comes to school in
uniform (jade sweatshirt or plain grey jumper/cardigan, white polo shirt and
grey trousers/skirt). Headscarves should be plain black or white, not printed.
No jewellery should be worn, unless for religious reasons.
Birthday Treats If you are sending in sweet treats for the class in
celebration on your child’s birthday, please ensure that they are vegetarian
and nut free, as we have a number of children who have allergies or dietary
requirements.
