Newsletter No 36 27th June 2012

Congratulations  Congratulations to Zain Abbas  (5R) and Safa Chowdhury (1B) for achieving their Gold Awards. Well done, children!
Medication in School Please note, if your child needs to take medication during the school day, do not put any medication in your child’s bag and do not try to give it to our teachers or teaching assistants, as they are not allowed to administer it.  Any child on antibiotics will need to have it administered by a parent or carer. All asthma pumps should also be given to the School Office.
Year 6 Glasbury Trip   Our Year 6 children arrived back safely from their week long Glasbury trip on Friday. They had a wonderful time and are full of stories about the fun they had and the activities they took part in. The children would like to say a big thank you to Sharifa, Jade, Helen and Ian for looking after them so well.
Transition Information Session for Year 5 Parents  I would like to thank those parents who attended the session on Monday morning. The feedback was very positive.
Sports Day We had a wonderful time at Sports Day on Tuesday and were lucky to have nice weather. Congratulations to all the winners and well done to all the children for trying hard. Thank you to Chloe, Ian and Mark for arranging this super event. A special thank you to Di, Rash, Hannah and Paula for helping on the day and providing the water and healthy snacks for this event.
Cooking Activities Years 1—6 will be taking part in cooking activities including an Olympic Breakfast on Friday 29th June.  We would ask for a donation of £1 to cover the cost of the ingredients please.
Anti-bullying As a staff team we strive to create a safe and secure environment, where children feel happy and progress well.  Therefore, I am saddened to discover that one of our pupils has been the victim of bullying over a sustained period of time and did not tell any adults in school or at home.  Whilst, we have and are dealing with this situation I would urge all parents to be vigilant and discuss any concerns with the classteacher promptly, so that we can work together in partnership to prevent any other Cranbrook Child from facing this type of situation.
Olympic Week Closing Ceremony As part of our Olympic Week activities, we will be having a closing ceremony in the playground (weather permitting) on Friday 29th June starting at 2pm for Years 1-6.  All parents are very welcome to attend. We look forward to seeing you there.
Non-uniform day  Friday 29th June will be a non-uniform day for a donation of £1 per child.  The children are invited to come into school dressed linked to the country they have been working on during Olympic Week.  All money received will go towards sports facilities in school.
Reception Class events  A letter will be going out by the end of the week about the following two events for our Reception classes:
