Newsletter No 25 21st March 2012

Congratulations Congratulations to Lina Khemili of 3 Red for achieving her Gold Award and choosing a book for her class as a prize. Well done, Lina!

Reading Champions Well done to the following children Hannah 1Y, Jayden 1B, Maddie 2R, Rafay 2R, Aleena 3G, Soumya 3G, Keiran 4G, Qasim S 4R, Haaris Rafiq 5G, Anisah 5R, Humza 6B and Naimah 6B. These children will be responsible for raising the profile of reading throughout the school. They will be encouraging children to become more interested in reading, organise fundraising events and try to make reading an enjoyable experience. Congratulations!

Attendance The classes with the highest percentage are Year 4 Blue and 4 Yellow both with 100%! Well done to both classes! The overall percentage for the whole school was 96.5%. Fantastic!

NUT Strike Wednesday 28th March Although some of you may have heard through the media that the National Union of Teachers is planning to strike next Wednesday 28th March, I am pleased to inform you that this will not affect the smooth running of Cranbrook and school will be open as usual.

Louise Parker Schools Dance Festival Congratulations to the following children who came 1st in the competition—Sindy Mikulecka 3G, Maryam Ali 4Y, Noholi Nistha 4Y, Sruthiga Premkumar 4Y, Andreea Dumitrascu 4B, Chidera Uzoma 4R, Santana Porter 6B, Caitlin McNulty 6Y, Cleo Williams 6Y and India Williams 6Y. Well done! This is a real achievement as over 20 schools participated, including secondary. Thank you Chloe for all your hard work.

CFA Table Top Sale Please don’t forget to book your tables for the Table Top Sale on 29th March 3.15-5.15pm. Pitch price will support school funds. Any profit you make at the event stays with you. Application forms for a pitch are available from the school office. Non-food £10, Food - £15. Look out for the School Council’s Easter Egg Tombola at the sale.

Design an Easter Bonnet Children are invited to design an Easter Bonnet at home and win an Easter Egg. 50p to enter and entries to be in school by the 29th March. 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winning entries will be announced in assembly on Friday 30th March.

Jequirity Bean Bracelets We have received a safety alert regarding Jequirity bracelets that have been on sale across the country, urging customers to return the red and black bracelets. They contain a substance that if swallowed can be very serious. People who have bought the bracelets are being urged to bag them and then wash their hands and avoid touching their eyes. However, no such bracelets have been spotted in Redbridge.

The Big Pedal and Dr Bike A big thank you to everyone who took part in the Big Pedal and Dr Bike events. These proved very popular events which we hope to run again.

Nursery Applications If you have children born between 01/09/2008-31/08/2009 who you would like to be considered for a Nursery place in September please come into the school office to fill in an application form as soon as possible if you have not done so already.

Year 4 performance It was a great turnout this afternoon. Well done to all children and staff in year 4.

Year 1 performance date The Year 1 performance to parents is on Wednesday 28th March at 2pm. I do hope you will be able to come along and see your child perform.

Free Maths Course for Parents If you have a child in reception or year one then we would like to invite you to join our Family Numeracy Course starting on Friday 20th April 2012. This unique 12 week course will help you to brush up on your maths skills; teach you how to support your child with maths; and allow you to take part in maths sessions with your child in school. Parents will have an opportunity to gain a City and Guilds qualification in Maths and will receive a certificate. A free crèche and refreshments will be provided. To reserve a place please phone the school on 020 8518 2562 or visit the school reception to complete an enrolment form.
