6th October 2010
Newsletter No: 30

Dear Parents/ Carers,

Year 6 Residential Trip Thank you to those parents who attended the meeting last week. A letter was sent home on Friday with details and we need to receive reply slips no later than this Friday, so that we can confirm that this trip will go ahead.

Harvest Assembly Thank you so much for your donations of tins and packets of food. These will be distributed to the Redbridge Night Shelter and the local Elderly.

Late Children If your children are late for school, please do not just drop them off at the gates as they will be locked out or in the playground as the doors will be closed. Children must be escorted to the School Office and signed in so that we know they are in school and can enter them on the register.

School Office Please note that from now on the School Office will be closed between 10-11.00 am and 1.30-2.30pm to ensure that all office staff have the required breaks. Please also help by sending in any money in labelled envelopes with your child rather than queuing up each day to pay it into the office.

Book Fair Please come along to our Book Fair which is taking place each day until Wednesday 13th October after school in the Small Hall. The children have had a preview of the books which are available to buy. Do come along – the children are very excited about our Book Fair! Every book you buy helps to buy books for the school. Thank you for all your support so far.

Open School Reminder: all parents and carers are invited to walk through the school and look at your child’s class books on 11th October between 3:30 and 4:15pm. Please note, as previously this is not a formal meeting with the class teacher but rather an opportunity for the children to show their books to their parents. Formal meetings to discuss your child’s progress with the class teacher will take place during the week beginning 15th November.

International Evening Tickets You are invited to join us in celebrating diversity at our International Evening on the 21st October from 3:45 – 6pm. Please return the slip and monies in an envelope as soon as possible as only 200 tickets are available and will be issued on a first come first served basis.

Year 6 Secondary Transfer Forms Please return your applications to Lynton House by 22nd October other wise your child is at risk of not being allocated a place.

PTA Entertainment The PTA has arranged an afterschool Halloween Disco with Mr Marvel for KS2 and Year 2 and Mr Marvel to entertain Nursery to Year 1 classes, during the day on 4th November. There will be Clubs that day.

Lost Property Please collect any lost property from the Small Hall after school from 3.15-3.45pm.

Parking The local Police and PCSO team will be patrolling around the school regularly. They will be issuing parking tickets and penalty notices to drivers parked illegally – this includes blocking driveways.

Clubs Update Many of our Clubs started as planned this week with the exception of Cricket and Dance (Thursday) which starts next week, ICT which starts after Half Term and Karate which is being arranged directly by the Karate teacher. We have tried to allocate each child to a club and will prioritise places next term to those children, who were not able to get a place this term. Please remember to enclose your money with the Permission Slip. We are hoping to be able to offer further clubs later in the year and would like to thank you for your support as well as the members of staff who are giving their time to organise and run the clubs for your children.

Waitrose Vouchers We are collecting Waitrose vouchers which we can exchange for garden tools. Please send any vouchers into class with your child.

RHS Campaign for School Gardening We are currently registering with this scheme which will provide help and ideas to get our children gardening. As we complete each of the 5 benchmark stages we will receive a certificate and prize. We can’t wait to get started!

Yours faithfully
