Newsletter No: 29

Dear Parents/ Carers,

Year 6 Parents Meeting (Residential Trip) This will take place on the 30th September at 3.15pm. Please do make every effort to attend.

Harvest Assembly Our Harvest Assembly will take place on Friday 1st October. Donations of tinned or packets of food will be greatly appreciated and can be brought in all week. Our donations will be distributed between the Redbridge Night Shelter and the local Elderly.

School Office Please note that from now on the School Office will be closed between 10-11.00 am and 1.30-2.30pm to ensure that all office staff has the required breaks. Please also help by sending in any money in labelled envelopes with your child rather than queue up each day to pay it into the office.

Open School Once again, I would like to invite all parents and carers to walk through the school and look at your child’s class books on 11th October between 3:30 and 4:15pm. Please note, as previously this is not a formal meeting with the class teacher but rather an opportunity for the children to show their books to their parents. Formal meetings to discuss your child’s progress with the class teacher will take place during the week beginning 15th November.

Beijing I am thrilled to announce an exciting link that the school has recently established with a partner school in Beijing. This link is aimed at developing teachers professionally and we hope that in the long term there will be pupil to pupil conferencing etc. To start the link, 3 teachers from Cranbrook Helen Radmore, Mark Evans and Samina Rai will be visiting our partner school during the week 16th October. They will meet staff and children, observe and teach lessons and discuss how the link can benefit both schools. Please note that 2G and 4G will be covered y other staff from within the school when Mark and Samina are in Beijing. Updates will be provided on this exciting project in future newsletters.

International Evening As part of our focus on “Black History Month”, we will be celebrating diversity at our International Evening on the 21st October from 3:45 – 6pm. 200 tickets will be available on a first come first served basis and a letter will go out this week with more details. This will be followed by a non-uniform day on 22nd October when the children and staff will be invited to wear their “costume of heritage” or blue, white and red clothes.

PTA Entertainment The PTA has arranged a Halloween Disco with Mr Marvel for KS2 and Year 2 and Mr Marvel to entertain Nursery to Year 1 classes on 4th November. In addition, the PTA is also arranging a pantomime which will be on the 16th December.

Cache Level 2 There are still places available on the Cache Level 2 course at the Children’s Centre - this is a training course for Teaching Assistants and takes place on Thursdays from 10am to 3pm. For more information, come along to the session on Thursday.

Pakistan Appeal Our fundraising for the Pakistan Appeal was a great success and last week we reported we had raised £870.00. We are pleased to announce that Mr Yousaf’s family and friends raised a further £360 for the appeal bringing the grand total to £1238.85. Well done and Thank You to everyone who helped!

Lost Property Please collect any lost property from the Small Hall after school from 3.15-3.45pm.

Parking I am very disappointed to have received complaints from residents on The Drive. Please do not block their driveways when you are dropping or collecting your children from school. Our neighbours have children to take to school and jobs to go to and our parents are making them late. This cannot continue and has been reported to the local Police who will be patrolling regularly. They will be issuing parking tickets and penalty notices to drivers parked illegally – this includes blocking driveways.

Football Team Congratulations to our football team who won 7:2 against St Bede’s on Monday. A great home win - well done to everyone who played : Saif who scored 3 goals, Smaran, Timi and Ibrahim who scored one goal each, our Captain Zaki and the rest of the team – Waliur, Junaid, Bruno, Santana, Abishiek.

Clubs Confirmation Letters These will be sent home on Thursday and Clubs will start next week.

Yours faithfully

Jas Leverton
