Newsletter No 16 9th January 2013

Welcome back and a happy new year to you all. I hope you had a lovely Christmas break.

This term we shall be building on the school’s successes and I would like to take the opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the following:

• The children, staff and parents all got involved in “Go Green” for MacMillan Cancer Support and raised £606.87 for the charity.

• The CFA put on a fantastic disco and arranged for Mr Marvel to entertain the children. The sum of £1099.70 was raised from this event by the CFA!

• The continued hard work from the governing body.

We have a great deal planned for the forthcoming weeks, so please make a note of the keys dates for your child’s class.

Congratulations to Iqra Mahmood (6R) for being awarded Peer Mentor of the Month for constantly and willingly giving up her own time in order to support her peers.

Class Information Sessions These begin tomorrow with Year 6 and will take place at 9-9.30am in the main hall. The session will provide you with information about this term’s learning theme for your child’s class. Please make every effort to attend. The dates for the year groups are as follows:

Attendance Well done to classes 1 Green and 5 Blue who achieved 96.7% attendance! The overall percentage for the whole school was 91.2%. PLEASE work with us to improve this to at least 95%.

Colour Assemblies There will be no colour assemblies this week or next week due to class information sessions running in the main hall.

No Authorised Holidays During Term Time Please note if you take your child out of school without authorisation from the Headteacher, you will liable for a fine of £60 per child. You may also lose your child’s place at school.

Open School All parents will have the opportunity to come into school on Tuesday 22nd January to view your child’s books with him/her and find out what targets he/she is working on. I hope that you can make this event.
