Weather Although the week started with the snow—I would begin by congratulating the large majority for ensuring that children have been in school. However, for safety reasons the children have not been able to have normal playtimes. Please continue taking care in the car park.

UK Chess Challenge I am thrilled to report that Aditya Verma, the County Champion (3R) will be representing England in the World Schools Individual Chess Championships in Romania later on in the year. Well done.

National Quiz Club Championship Last Thursday, 2 teams which consisted of 8 pupils represented our school at Roding Primary. There was stiff competition from schools such as Leverton Junior, Roding Primary and Oakdale Junior. Both of our teams did well throughout the quiz and were exceptional at answering maths questions. Overall, Team A (Naval 6Y), Omar (5R), Aisha (4G) and Soumya (3G) were placed 2nd. Throughout the quiz Team B (Eman 6B), Yusuf (5G), Qasim (4R) and Yetunde were trailing the winning school in 2nd position, however, Oakdale Juniors were too quick! Well done to both teams for making us extremely proud. Junaida G and T Co-Ordinator.

Chess Club We are starting a chess club during lunchtime on a Thursday which will be run by current British Chess Champion Aditya Verma (3R), who will soon be representing the country at international level and Paul. Any pupil at Cranbrook can participate, there is no cost involved and pupils winning their heats will get prizes. Please encourage your child to participate. Junaida, G and T Co-Ordinator.
